Dr John Lazdins (retired)
MB, BS (Melbourne), Grad Dip Fam Med (Monash) VR
After nearly 50 yrs of clinical practice, John retired at the end of 2021. We wish John a happy, healthy retirement but we will try to entice him to do the occasional locum when his Landcruiser is being repaired!
Having graduated in 1972, following an internship at the Queen Victoria Hospital, John entered the radiology training program, being rotated through most of Melbourne’s major hospitals and subspecialties. He particularly enjoyed interventional radiology including joint and spinal injections and angiography. Realising he enjoyed more personal contact with his patients, he embraced General Practice, initially working as a solo GP in Box Hill South for 28 years before joining Advocate Medical Centre in 2010. This has afforded him the opportunity to spend some time practicing medicine in Aboriginal communities.
Interests: John has diverse medical interests of value in general practice including sports medicine, acupuncture and “lumps and bumps” surgery. He has completed courses in Emergency Medicine. His interests include diverse reading matter, photography, bird watching and outback travel.
